Your first creative project from A to Z
A course from the Academy: Creating with AI: images, videos and ideas
Go to the quiz ↓Final lesson: we put it all together. Here is a five-step method, illustrated with a concrete example you can apply to any project: creating a poster for an event (concert, tournament, party, launch).
Step 1: the intention (10 minutes, no AI)
Three questions on paper: for WHO, to say WHAT, with what EMOTION? "Poster for a local video game tournament, audience aged 15-25, energy and competition." Without this compass, you'll be generating at random for hours.
Step 2: exploration
Ask the text AI: "10 visual concepts for this poster". Pick 2. Then generate 4 to 6 images per concept, varying the mood. You're only looking for ONE: the right one.
Step 3: refinement
On your best image: one change at a time (lesson 2). Vertical framing for the poster, a calm area at the top for the title, colours consistent with your event.
Step 4: assembly
The text (title, date, location) is added with a standard, free layout tool, NOT in the generation (generated text is unreliable). This is also where you legally become the "author": composition, typography, choices.
Step 5: the eyes of others
Show two versions to three people from the target audience. Their first reaction says more than your tenth look. Adjust, export, publish.
And now?
This method (intention, exploration, refinement, assembly, feedback) works for anything: a logo, a video channel, an illustrated book for your loved ones, a website's design. You have the tools, the method and the rules of the game. The rest is up to you.
Key takeaways
- Intention first, always without AI: for whom, what, what emotion.
- Explore wide, refine narrow, assemble yourself.
- The target audience's view is worth more than your tenth look.
